The American Revolution - Premiere Screening
Enjoy the story of America’s historic beginning in the place where Louisiana’s own history still echoes. Louisiana’s Old State Capitol, in partnership with Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) and Louisiana America 250, invites you to enjoy the premiere of The American Revolution, the latest documentary from acclaimed filmmakers Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt.
Join us Sunday, November 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. to see the first episode an hour before the broadcast premiere! Come early and enjoy complimentary food and drinks beginning at 5:30 p.m. and soak in the historic surroundings of Louisiana’s own 175-year-old Gothic architectural treasure.
The event is free, but seating is limited and you must register.

Southern University and A&M College Marks Major Growth With Facility Upgrades, Research Honors
As the celebration of Southern University and A&M College’s 145th year continues, the campus has seen significant improvements with completion of an outdoor classroom and amphitheater, a revamped public safety building, and renovations to the turf at A.W. Mumford Stadium. Construction of the new Global Innovation and Welcome Center, the soon-to-be home of Southern’s Office of Research and Strategic Planning, is nearly complete and work will soon begin on the $68 million STEM Complex, slated to open in Spring 2027. In 2025, Southern was awarded a Research 2 (R2) designation from the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, allowing for $12.9 million in research and development with the completion of 42 research doctorates.
