Louisiana's Hidden History: Spanish Louisiana in the American Revolution

In support of America’s 250 celebration, LPB Education developed six standards-aligned resources to help grade 3-8 students understand the important role of Spanish Louisiana in winning the American Revolution. Diverse troops led by Governor Bernardo de Gálvez fought several battles against the British during the war.

St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission Wraps Year of Chenier

More Zydeco Music,  Courir de Mardi Gras in 2026

St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission dedicated 2025 to celebrating the area’s paragon of Zydeco music ─ Clifton Chenier. The monthly Zydeco Capital Jam at the Tourist Commission Visitor Center, lets fans continue Chenier’s legacy and the fun by catching local Zydeco musicians every second Saturday at 1:00p.m. The annual Courir de Mardi Gras and Chicken Chase, is set for February 17th and wraps six weeks of carnival activities that are Cajun and Creole style.
