About the Show

Louisiana's HBCUs: An American Legacy brings together three short films produced in partnership with the HBCU Week NOW project, exploring the impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities across Louisiana. The special features the Bayou Classic rivalry between Southern University and Grambling State University, the founding and mission of the Southern University Law Center, and the legacy of the Alvin Batiste Jazz Institute at Southern University.

Together, these stories highlight the influence of Louisiana HBCUs across athletics, education, civil rights, culture, and community life. The program will be hosted for LPB by Dr. Robyn Merrick, Vice President for External Affairs and University Relations for the Southern University System.

Thank you to Friends of LPB Board Chair, Howard White, and TOP Choice Products for supporting this program.
