CRAWFISH PONDS, SWAMP POP, A COUNTRYSIDE GROTTO & A FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO AN OMELETTE

(LOUISIANA STATEWIDE – January 29, 2026) – Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) premieres its new statewide travel series LA64  Monday, February 2 at 8:00pm with an episode exploring the hidden stories of Vermilion Parish.

LA64 is a statewide travel series hosted by Louisiana native and travel journalist Karen LeBlanc, exploring all 64 parishes through food, culture, history, and everyday life. Each episode highlights the people, places, and traditions that make Louisiana unlike anywhere else.

In the premiere episode, LeBlanc explores Vermilion Parish, the self-proclaimed “Most Cajun Place on Earth,” offering a vibrant look at Cajun culture shaped by food, faith, and festival. The episode visits Abbeville for the Giant Omelette Festival, heads to crawfish ponds near Kaplan, and captures live swamp-pop music, and uncovers a hidden countryside grotto. Set among rice fields and bayous, these stops reveal a parish where Cajun traditions remain part of everyday life.

A signature part of LPB’s 50th anniversary year, LA64reflects LPB’s continued commitment to serving the entire state, from its largest cities to its smallest towns.

New episodes of LA64 premiere Mondays at 8:00pm on LPB. Episodes stream concurrently with broadcast at lpb.org/la64 and on LPB’s YouTube channel. Check local listings and lpb.org for encore broadcast information.
