ANGELA GREGORY: A LEGACY CHISELED IN STONE
LPB Special Focus - Friday at 8:30pm

From the streets of turn-of-the-century New Orleans where she grew up to the Parisian studio where she honed her craft, Gregory’s story is that of a woman before her time.

Beginning with her interest in art at an early age, the film explores Gregory’s studies at Newcomb College in New Orleans, and at the studio of Auguste Rodin’s chief sculptor, Antoine Bourdelle, in Paris. At a time when women struggled to be taken seriously, discover how Gregory married her mathematics skills with her love for art and architecture to create beauty “in the ultimate lasting pieces of art.”

Angela Gregory: A Legacy Chiseled in Stone features interviews with: Lauren Davis, Museum Curator at Louisiana’s Old State Capitol; Susan Hymel, Angela Gregory historian; Deborah Luke, sculptor and former student of Angela Gregory; and Elizabeth Chubbuck Weinstein, guest curator for West Baton Rouge Museum.

A NEW DRAMA PREMIERES THURSDAY!

WHITSTABLE PEARL: THE FREE WATERS
Thursday at 8pm

WHITSTABLE PEARL follows single mother Pearl (Kerry Godliman, After Life) as she pursues her lifelong dream to start a private detective agency, which she runs from her family restaurant in the coastal English town of Whitstable. Drawn by her caring nature, locals soon flock to her with all kinds of cases. But when a friend dies suspiciously, Pearl finds herself in conflict with a gruff new cop in town, DCI Mike McGuire (Howard Charles, The Musketeers). In time, the two strike up an understanding, and the possibility of a romantic relationship emerges.

In the first episode, restaurant owner Pearl Nolan discovers the body of her friend and oyster supplier chained to the anchor of his ship. The police, led by out-of-towner Chief Inspector Mike McGuire, believe it was an accident, but Pearl, who also runs a private detective agency, suspects foul play.

MAKE A PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE

Scooping out the pumpkin pulp can be lots of messy fun! Ask your child what can be done with the leftover pumpkin after the carving is complete. Can they think of delicious treats to make? Making this pumpkin smoothie recipe together is a great way for your child to practice measuring and mixing ingredients — and it’s yummy too!

Ingredients:
1 frozen banana
1 cup milk
½ cup vanilla yogurt
½ cup pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)
¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
1Tbs maple syrup or honey
1 cup of ice (optional)
