SEE HOW ANIMALS ADAPT TO A CHANGING WORLD! AN ALL-NEW SEASON OF NATURE

Filer image

NATURE - WALRUS: LIFE ON THIN ICE
Season Premiere
Wednesday 7pm

From the concrete jungle of New York City to the tropical jungles in Costa Rica, witness never-before-seen animal behavior in a new season of television’s premiere natural history series Nature. In the Season 44 premiere, you'll head to the Arctic seas between Alaska and Russia, home to about 250,000 walruses. The walrus is one of the Arctic’s most enigmatic and social animals, relying on sea ice to live. Follow a paleontologist who embarks on an Arctic adventure to see how these mammals are coping as that sea ice that is so critical to their survival continues to shrink.

"With their long tusks and droopy moustaches, everyone knows and loves the walrus, but few actually get to see them in the wild," said Kirk Johnson. “I feel very fortunate to have gotten this rare opportunity to track them. The challenges they are facing due to a changing planet threaten their very survival. But they are resilient creatures, and I hope this film brings awareness to their plight.”

A longtime PBS signature series, NATURE brings the natural world to millions of viewers. The series has won more than 800 honors from the television industry, the international wildlife film communities and environmental organizations, including 21 Emmys, and three Peabodys.

Hard work and new industry eventually propelled African Americans in West Feliciana to a level of prosperity not seen in many of Louisiana’s communities. It’s a story that has many Black Louisianans looking back on the challenges and wondering just exactly, “How we got over?”
