In the second episode of the series, LA64 takes viewers to Sabine Parish, a rugged corner of the state shaped by frontier history and borderland culture. The journey includes the Free State Festival, fishing on Toledo Bend, and roadside stops in former logging towns. Along the way, stories of Indigenous roots, outlaw legends, and local resilience reveal a region that remains proudly independent and rich in character.

EDDIE ROBINSON: A LIFE CELEBRATED

This documentary chronicles the remarkable life and career of Eddie Robinson, the legendary head football coach of Grambling State University who led the program from 1941 to 1997. Winning 408 games and sending more than 200 players to the NFL, Robinson built one of the most influential football programs in history while also breaking barriers and challenging segregation. Through interviews with former players, coaches, and cultural figures, the film reveals how his leadership shaped generations of student athletes and left a lasting mark on sports and American society.

Arthur Hardy’s name is synonymous with New Orleans’ Mardi Gras. In 2026, as the man who literally wrote the book on Carnival marks a milestone anniversary for his Mardi Gras Guide and prepares to retire, WYES celebrates the life and career of this local legend with this fascinating documentary.

Hardy’s friends, family and Carnival colleagues highlight his love for the celebration as well as the pivotal role he has played in spreading the message of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras’ cultural and economic impact around the world. Interviews, archival photos and footage document the career of the man who has become the purple, green and gold standard for media coverage of Mardi Gras.

LSU researchers have announced groundbreaking research into one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. Triple-negative breast cancer is resistant to many traditional treatments, but scientists have uncovered immune system differences that could provide new hope for patients. LPB's Christina Jensen sits down with researchers for more on the developments.

This Carnival season, tradition meets history on the parade route. The Krewe of Bacchus is honoring America 250, marking 250 years since the nation's founding.
