The episode visits St. Martinville at the Acadian Memorial and beneath the Evangeline Oak and explores Breaux Bridge, the Crawfish Capital of the World, where Cajun and Zydeco fill local dance halls. NATURE
BECOMING ELEPHANT: THE ORPHANS OF RETETI
Wednesday 7:00pm

In the remote wilds of northern Kenya, follow the remarkable journey of orphaned elephants at Reteti, the first community-owned elephant sanctuary in Africa. Raised by Samburu keepers who act as surrogate parents, these elephants, many rescued from poaching, drought, or human-wildlife conflict, are nurtured back to health and prepared for life in the wild.

From tiny calves taking their first bottle to older elephants practicing the skills needed for their release, the two-part series captures intimate moments of struggle, healing, and transformation. Meet characters like Long’uro, a calf who lost his trunk to a hyena attack, and Kelele, whose illness nearly derails his future. With the help of a whole community rallying behind them, witness a powerful tale of healing, hope, and the deep bond between people and animals.

GREAT PERFORMANCES: NOW HEAR THIS
Brahms: Free But Alone
Friday 9:00pm

Scott Yoo, violinist and conductor of the Mexico City Philharmonic, returns to host the seventh season of the critically acclaimed miniseries Now Hear This from Great Performances to explore the lives and works of Johannes Brahms and Scott Joplin, two celebrated composers whose careers did not go as planned; alongside the music scene of two major musical epicenters: Istanbul and Iceland.

The Premiere Episode
Johannes Brahms was a quiet, private person, but he lived a full life, bearing a responsibility he didn’t want, a woman he couldn’t be with, and a legacy he couldn’t live up to. Scott Yoo journeys across Germany with pianist Elisabeth Brauss and cellists Johannes Moser and Max Hornung to find a window into Brahms’ inner life. Through his personal photo collection and a visit to his summer hideaway, preserved as Brahms left it years ago, Scott Yoo discovers how Brahms reached a turning point in his life to become one of the greatest composers ever known.
