Winter: Animals in Winter- Children will explore different ways animals prepare for winter and make a hibernation cave. 

Little Red Riding Hood  | Super Why  - Using this Super WHY! episode, students learn about advocating for themselves using the story of "Little Red Riding Hood". They also learn to recognize the alphabet, play spelling games, and use the power of reading to change the story.

Moth Quilt | Albie's Elevator- Meet a silly moth and learn about quilting with Albie. Albie is shocked to discover that a moth has chewed holes in her very favorite blanket. She visits a quilter who explains how different people can come together to make a larger quilt–which gives Albie an idea! Try some kid-friendly sewing of your own with Albie’s “Paper Plate Sewing” activity.

Elmo’s Spend, Share, and Save Jars- Children can start their financial education at a young age. During a play date, Elmo and Louie help Abby learn about spending, sharing, and saving money.

 LPB Education’s Gingerbread Joy Play & Learn 

Get ready for a sweet adventure the whole family will love! In this festive Play & Learn, we kick things off with a fun video clip from Pinkalicious & Peterrific as they create a magical gingerbread house for a big contest. Then it’s your turn! Families build their own gingerbread village using recycled boxes—proof that creativity and holiday magic can come from anything. 

Next, we head to the kitchen to cook and decorate our very own gingerbread men, filling the room with warm spices, giggles, and sticky fingers. Listen to a delightful read-aloud of How to Catch a Gingerbread Man, the perfect ending to a day of imagination, learning, and delicious fun. ✨ Join us for Gingerbread Joyand make memories that are as sweet as they are educational!

LDMA: Join us for a Louisiana Christmas Journey in December!

During December, the LDMA is heading out on a virtual Louisiana Christmas Journey.  Louisiana is the home to a variety of unique Christmas celebrations around the state.  LPB’s Louisiana: The State We’re In has captured the sights and sounds of these special events through the years.  As you prepare for this year’s festivities, relive the memories of past Christmases with the LDMA!  You can also learn more about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa celebrations from LPB’s Folks series!

George Bell & Friends: Holiday Jazz: LPB SPECIAL FOCUS, Monday, December 1 at 7PM  - Ring in the season with George Bell & Friends: Holiday Jazz, a concert special filmed live at the Manship Theater in Baton Rouge. Trumpeter and bandleader George Bell leads an exceptional group of musicians — with featured vocalist Quiana Lynell — in a heartfelt evening of Christmas and holiday favorites. From soulful interpretations of beloved carols to lively jazz arrangements filled with Louisiana flair, the performance captures the warmth and joy of the holidays. Filmed before a live audience, this festive special blends timeless melodies with the unmistakable rhythm and spirit of jazz.

A Louisiana Holiday Special :Tuesday, December 9 at 7PM - From Candy Cane Lane in Calhoun to the twinkling lights of New Orleans and the Christmas Eve Bonfires along the Great River Road, Louisiana shines with traditions found nowhere else. LPB explores the sights, sounds, and stories that make the holidays in our state so uniquely joyful.

Michalopoulos: The Art of Celebration - Wednesday, December 17 at 7PM  - No artist has captured the spirit of New Orleans like James Michalopoulos. This program traces the evolution of his work from iconic architectural paintings and celebrated portraiture to luminous French landscapes. The son of a Greek immigrant and architect, Michalopoulos’ wanderlust brought him to New Orleans four decades ago. Drawn to its beauty and decay, he forged a lifelong love affair with the city. From street artist to New Orleans' icon, his rise in the ’90s led to international acclaim, yet he chose to root himself in America’s last bastion of Bohemia. Here he champions its culture, artists, architecture, and communities - making the preservation of New Orleans’ spirit as much his legacy as his art.

An Evening at the Governor's Mansion:  LPB SPECIAL FOCUS  - Tuesday, December 23 at 7PM - Louisiana music takes center stage at the Governor’s Mansion as LPB, together with Governor Jeff Landry and First Lady Sharon Landry, presents An Evening at the Governor’s Mansion, a holiday tradition.Filmed before a live audience, this concert showcases the sound, soul, and seasonal joy of the holidays in true Louisiana style.
