50 Years of LPB
Take a look back at milestones and check out some of LPB's longest running series.
Established by the Louisiana Legislature, LPB signed on the air September 6, 1975, with a clear purpose: to educate, inform, and connect the people of Louisiana. For five decades, LPB has remained a trusted, commercial free public media network serving children, families, and communities across our state.
What began as a single station has grown into a six station statewide network serving Baton Rouge, Monroe, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Shreveport, and Alexandria, with full Louisiana coverage through our New Orleans sister station, WLAE-TV.
Now in our 50th anniversary year, we celebrate the stories that define Louisiana and the people who make them possible. LPB remains committed to delivering educational resources, trusted journalism, and original programming that reflect the culture, history, and civic life of our state.
Fifty years strong. Still serving Louisiana.
For 50 years, Louisiana Public Broadcasting has brought stories of all kinds to our viewers. LPB has sought out the best stories to tell, whether they are History, Culture, Entertainment, Sports, Food or even Newsworthy and Educational. LPB continues to strive to bring all Louisianans together with their own stories, each as unique as the state itself.
