LOUISIANA: THE STATE WE'RE IN
Friday 7:00pm | Saturday 4:30pm | Sunday 5:00pm
Louisiana is making progress in the state's effort to clean up its waterways. Crews are working to remove sunken boats off the coast of Terrebonne Parish. Many of the vessels were damaged and abandoned following hurricanes, causing navigation hazards and threatening the environment. Christina Jensen takes us to Chauvin where teams are working to make the waterways safer for fishermen, boaters and the communities that depend on them.
In rural DeSoto Parish, one school stands as a testament to a community's determination to educate its children. The Longstreet Rosenwald School is one of thousands built across the South during segregation to educate African American children at a time when public schooling was anything but equal. Karen LeBlanc introduces us to former students as they come home to remember what the school meant to them.
