Scams are a problem worldwide — with millions of victims and billions in money reported lost each year. Interpol ranks financial fraud as “one of the world’s most severe and rapidly evolving transnational crimes.” Americans reported around $15.9 billion in losses to fraud in 2025, according to the Federal Trade Commission, with the biggest losses coming from investment and romance scams.

This week, FRONTLINE with The Associated Press, dives deep into how online scams steal billions of dollars and ruin victims’ lives. The program looks at the rise of a global criminal industry, the people and technology enabling it, and the efforts to shut it down.

NOVA: STONE AGE MASTERPIECE

Hidden in the gorges of Southern France lies one of the most stunning decorated caves ever discovered: Chauvet, “the Sistine Chapel of Paleolithic art.” For thousands of years, this geological wonder was visited only by animals. But around 37,000 years ago people arrived, and some covered its walls with drawings of exceptional beauty. Since its re-discovery in 1994, only a few scientists have been granted access to study it. Now, NOVA’s cameras are there as scientists return to the cave searching for new clues about the people who came here — and what moved them to leave such haunting images.

Louisiana has confirmed its first case of rabies in a dog since 2014, with the infected animal found in Acadiana. It is only the fifth confirmed case in a Louisiana dog over the past 20 years. The disease is more commonly found in wildlife such as bats or skunks.  Johnny Atkinson talks with veterinarians to find out what pet owners need to know.

Baton Rouge native Silas Schultz is celebrating the biggest win of his sports career. Schultz claimed the title of Professional Disc Golf World Champion with a dramatic playoff in Michigan. Christina Jensen talks to Schultz about the pressure of his championship moment, his path to the top of the sport, and what it means to bring the world title home to Louisiana.

SUPER WHY’S COMIC BOOK ADVENTURES is an all-new, full-length, half-hour animated series that builds on the legacy and success of the Emmy-nominated series SUPER WHY! and the SUPER WHY’S COMIC BOOK ADVENTURES shorts. The series follows the adventures of Power Paige, the newest Super Reader, along with familiar friends Super Why, Wonder Red, Princess Presto, and Alpha Pig – who is back and ready to build! Each reading hero uses their own unique literacy powers and gadgets to protect Reader Valley from a group of silly Super Villains.

“This is the kind of literacy-focused content that PBS KIDS is known for,” says LPB Education Director, Nancy Tooraen. “This fun-filled comic book inspired series is sure to engage and entertain young learners and spark a lifelong love of reading.”

The series debuts on LPB HD and LPB PBS KIDS 24/7 beginning October 5^th. To further extend the reading-centered fun for kids and families, new SUPER WHY’S COMIC BOOK ADVENTURES games and digital storybooks will launch following the series premiere on pbskids.org and the PBS KIDS Games app.
