A weekly wrap-up highlighting the biggest plays and most memorable moments from Saturday’s games. 

Louisiana football fans can catch highlights and analysis of their favorite teams, no matter who they root for or where they live. The LPB weekly sports series GAME NOTES and POST GAME NOTES return this week! 
Season 2 of the series spotlights eleven Louisiana collegiate football teams representing six conferences. The teams are widespread geographically as well, featuring historic powerhouses and rising programs alike. Fans and alumni can watch for coverage of Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana State University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Southern University and A&M College, Tulane University, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and University of Louisiana-Monroe. 

Veteran sportscaster Victor Howell returns as host. “Football connects families, friends, and alumni across our state and beyond. With LPB’s statewide network and digital presence, you can get pre-game analysis and post-game highlights no matter where you live.”

From humble beginnings in north Baton Rouge to becoming one of LSU's greatest football legends, Billy Cannon seemed to have it all. His legendary Halloween night punt return against Ole Miss helped propel him to the Heisman Trophy, followed by a successful professional football career and orthodontic practice. Then, a federal counterfeiting conviction brought a stunning and very public fall from grace. But it would not be the final chapter of his story. This LPB documentary explores the remarkable rise, devastating fall, and ultimate redemption of one of Louisiana's most iconic sports figures.

A federal rollback could put some of Louisiana’s most vulnerable wildlife at greater risk? Changes to the Endangered Species Act remove a key layer of protection for the habitats endangered species depend on. This week on Louisiana: The State We're In, Johnny Atkinson explores what that could mean for Louisiana's coastal wildlife and the places they call home. 

Could artificial intelligence become a new tool for moms-to-be? At Woman’s Hospital, doctors are using AI to help monitor pregnancies and spot potential problems sooner. LPB's Christina Jensen shows us how high-tech tools can help doctors make faster, and more informed, decisions when it matters most.

In this new five-part documentary series Emmy Award-winning journalist Miles O'Brien explores how science and human ingenuity are tackling some of the defining challenges of our time. 

LPB shows the first two episodes back-to-back, beginning with efforts to reduce livestock methane emissions by using red seaweed and nature's most powerful weapon against drought and wildfire - the beaver.

Featuring archival footage, never-before-seen personal photos, notebook pages and original interviews, Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World explores Oliver’s early days as a writer, the people and places that inspired her poetry, and the award-winning works that launched her to broad acclaim. New interviews from Maria Shriver,John Waters, and former US Poet Laureate Ada Limón, as well as poetry recitations from Helena Bonham Carter, Stephen Colbert, Lucy Dacus, Steve Buscemi, and Oprah Winfrey illuminate Oliver’s legacy as a beloved poet.

A PRIMETIME SAFARI ADVENTURE FROM NATURE & SESAME STREET

COMING SOON! Join Elmo and his friends on an adventure that will take them far from the familiar streets they call home for a first-ever collaboration between two PBS family favorites: Nature and Sesame Street. In SESAME STREET AND THE GREAT ELEPHANT ADVENTURE (premieres Wednesday, October 14 at 7pm on LPB), Elmo and the Sesame Street gang go on a once-in-a-lifetime African safari adventure!

After adopting an orphaned elephant online, Elmo, Abby and Nina decide to travel to The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya to meet the young elephant and the keepers who care for her. In Sesame Street’s first-ever safari, the friends embark on an unforgettable journey of discovery, taking them from the caring confines of the elephant sanctuary to the unpredictable African bush, where they come face to face with some of nature’s most iconic wildlife. 

The primetime special kicks off an exciting Season 45 of the natural history series Nature that will also include a look at the legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall as well as another collaboration with the BBC and Sir David Attenborough. 

To celebrate, LPB is teaming up with the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and the Baton Rouge Zoo so your family can enjoy their own animal adventure! Join us at the Main Library location on Goodwood Blvd Sunday, September 13 from 2:30 - 5:00pm for a family-friendly afternoon featuring a sneak peek at this very special episode, plus a look ahead at the upcoming season of Nature. After a short break, we'll welcome the educational team at the Baton Rouge Zoo and of course... the animals!
