Code switching is something everyone does, at different moments in their lives. It can be about race, class, profession, or a number of things - but the need to be viewed in “code” is the key. In this episode, Tank explores the complex roots of code-switching and examines the battle between being authentic to oneself and being accepted by a group.

Digital Series Premiere - Season 2

The award-winning digital series RITUAL is back with new episodes exploring how sacred rituals and everyday traditions across the South shape our identities, preserve our history, and sustain our communities. 

Tarriona ’Tank’ Ball, the powerhouse frontwoman of the Grammy-nominated, New Orleans-based group Tank and the Bangas, returns as host and narrator for the new season of RITUAL. Season 2 moves through the streets, kitchens, and ancestral spaces of the South, revealing how everyday practices carry deep meaning. From the vibrant energy of New Orleans second lines to the sacred tradition of New Year’s meals, and from the intimate art of Black hair to spiritual ancestral reconnections, each episode examines ritual as a living language of love, resilience, memory, and survival.

“Telling stories from the past and rediscovering history with such deep roots to my own feels so special and deeply personal,” said host Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball. “This is why I’m so excited for RITUAL to be back. This is a show for all of us to enjoy and feel connected to.”

LPB has teamed up with PBS Digital Studios and Independent Lens to bring viewers this 6-part series. A new episode will be released monthly and can be streamed at lpb.org/ritual and the PBS DOCUMENTARIES channel. “INDEPENDENT LENS is proud to partner with PBS Documentaries and Louisiana Public Broadcasting to bring these stories to new digital audiences and expand the reach of public media," says Royd Chung, Senior Vice President of Programming and Production at ITVS.

Johnny Atkinson breaks down what the changes mean for property owners today.

The Louisiana Swamp Base offers a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience, teaching leadership, survival, and an appreciation for one of the state's most unique landscapes. LPB's Christina Jensen takes us to Swamp Base to see why scouts from around the country are flocking to the bayou state.
