This week - preservation efforts in Louisiana. 

First we visit Grand Isle. The island faces mounting challenges from coastal erosion, stronger storms, and a shrinking population. Residents who remain are working to preserve not only their homes and livelihoods, but also the unique lifestyle that has defined Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island for generations.

The Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana is working to preserve a culture that has endured for centuries despite tremendous challenges. From revitalizing the tribal language to teaching traditional basket weaving, music, and customs, tribal leaders are ensuring younger generations stay connected to their heritage.

Enjoy a new season of this British crime drama as we explore murder and mystery in 1960s England. Based on the Inspector Gently novels written by Alan Hunter, the Season 5 premiere finds the murder of a black teenager has Gently and Bacchus seeking her killer in a community where racism is never far from the surface. The detectives encounter local prejudice and anti-immigrant sentiment but discover that there may have been other motivations for the crime.

This four-hour, two-part special about President John F. Kennedy explores the life and death of a man who remains one of the most beloved and mourned leaders of the United States. Featuring interviews with Kennedy family members and historians, the program covers the president's childhood, his early political career, his life-threatening illnesses and the campaign that resulted in his election as the youngest president in U.S. history. Part 2 airs next Friday at 9:00pm.

Thank you to everyone who came to last week's two screening premieres of the new LPB original documentary CAPTURING AMERICA: THE CAROL HIGHSMITH STORY. 

The first screening was at St. James Place in Baton Rouge with another the following night at the beautiful Louisiana Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Click the highlighted links to view Instagram reels from both events!
