CURL UP WITH A "COZY MYSTERY" WITH MASTERPIECE

THE COZY MYSTERIES OF MASTERPIECE MYSTERY!
Sunday 7:00pm

MASTERPIECE Mystery! has been celebrated for its combination of suspense, secrets and
sleuthing, bringing intriguing crime novels to the screen and creating fresh classics for a
new generation. Many of the most popular series on MASTERPIECE Mystery! are “cozy
mysteries,” an incredibly popular subgenre of crime fiction that features murder and
intrigue wrapped in comforting elements.

Also known as “rose-tinted crimes” or “feel-good murder stories,” cozy mysteries typically feature an amateur sleuth and are set in charming small towns or picturesque villages. Violence usually occurs off-screen, allowing the narrative to focus on the captivating characters as they unravel the mystery, rather than on the graphic details of the crime. Any of this sounding like a Sunday night on LPB?

This special explores the amateur sleuths featured in Grantchester (a vicar), Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders (a book editor), The Marlow Murder Club (a retired archaeologist) and Miss Scarlet (a pioneering private eye and the only professional in the group). The program visits the quaint villages and idyllic countryside settings for many of these series and provides behind-the-scenes insights from the cast and crew of each production. Fast-paced, engaging, and often comedic, these cozy mysteries give fans everything they want from a murder mystery without the
darkness — and provide a healthy dose of escapism.

BRINGING HISTORY TO LIFE

WOLF HALL: THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT: REFLECTIONS
Sunday 8:30pm

When Wolf Hall first aired on PBS in 2015, it was a hit with fans and critics alike. Based on Hilary Mantel's Booker Prize-winning trio of novels, the original series tells the story of royal "fixer" Thomas Cromwell during the reign of Henry VIII. Nearly a decade later, Wolf Hall: the Mirror and the Light continued the story to its dramatic conclusion, much to the delight of MASTERPIECE fans.

This special program will surely delight fans of the series, but also intrigue those who've never watched. You'll hear from returning cast members, many of whom have become famous in the years between. Cast and crew talk about how the passage of time has influenced their view of 16th-century England . You'll also explore the series' locations and learn how modern production techniques brought the England of the 1520s to life so vividly!

PRO TIP: STREAM BOTH WOLF HALL AND WOLF HALL: THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT ANYTIME WITH YOUR LPB PASSPORT BENEFIT. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LPB.

The program features acting greats Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson in their final acting roles.

The Count of Monte Cristo is a lush adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ iconic masterpiece. The epic series stars Sam Claflin as Edmond Dantes, a sailor falsely accused of treason and imprisoned without trial in a grim island fortress off Marseille, France.
