THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF THE "PATRON SAINT OF WRITERS"

EUDORA
Regional Focus
Monday 7:00pm

The life and work of renowned short story writer Eudora Welty is explored through intimate and charming interviews, both with Eudora herself and with family and friends. Seen through the backdrop of Jackson, Mississippi, Eudora is a revealing portrait of adventure, daring, humor, and love as we get to know a writer we only thought we knew.

Once called the “Patron Saint of Writers,” the film attempts to present the real Eudora Welty drawing heavily from the literary and photographic collection in the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, the film archives of Mississippi Public Broadcasting, and the Eudora Welty LLC materials.

“We’ve experienced a side of her not many people did. We’ve gotten to know that she was once this young person enjoying life and soaking it in, and that she happened to take beautiful photographs and write wonderful stories that still resonate,” said producer Anthony Thaxton.
