Activity 4: Exploring How Careers Impact Air Quality

1) Students will research occupations in which they are interested and identify how it can impact air quality. Some occupations may be involved in mitigating the effects of pollution, healthcare related jobs that cope with the effects, or may contribute to pollution. Go to http://www.bls.gov/ooh/and search for career interests. Review what the jobs do, education, projected growth rate.

2) Log in to Discovery at lpb.org/education. View segments in Emerging Occupations: Technical and Emerging Occupations: Professional (also available in Spanish) related to air quality.

3) Log in to LearningMedia at lpb.org/education. Search for occupation videos related to career interests.

4) Prepare a presentation on a career of interest and how it is related to air quality.
