LPB TO HONOR 2025 LOUISIANA LEGENDS

Legends 2025 Honorees

(Louisiana Statewide – April 28, 2025) - Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) honors the 2025 Louisiana Legends with a live broadcast from Louisiana’s Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge, Thursday, May 1 at 8:30 PM. Viewers can also stream the awards ceremony on lpb.org, LPB’s YouTube channel (@LPBTV) and Facebook (@LPB123).

For over thirty years, Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting has celebrated the state’s best and brightest as Louisiana Legends. The 2025 honorees have excelled in a variety of fields, including public service, military service, arts, philanthropy, and sports.

“I am always inspired by their stories and by the speeches from the honorees,” says LPB President and CEO, Clarence “C.C” Copeland. “These are Louisianans who have touched and impacted the lives of others in profound ways.” Visit www.lpb.org/legends to learn more.

The 2025 Louisiana Legends honorees are:

  • Judi Betts – Acclaimed watercolor painter, instructor, juror, and author.
  • Dan Borné - Distinguished career in media, government, education, industry, and healthcare.
  • John H. Dalton – 70th Secretary of the Navy and honored with the 1997 International Security Leadership Award.
  • Claire Babineaux-Fontenot – Dedicated public servant committed to combating hunger and strengthening communities.
  • The Goldring Family – As chairman of The Goldring Family Foundation, Bill Goldring oversees the foundation’s generous efforts to support non-profit organizations in Greater New Orleans.
  • Doug Williams – Grambling State University and NFL standout who became the first African American quarterback drafted during the first round and the first African American starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
