LPB Explores Carbon Capture on the next Louisiana Spotlight

(Louisiana Statewide – April 16, 2025) – Louisiana stands at the forefront of a national energy transition as communities navigate the promise and peril of carbon capture technology. What drives the rush toward these ambitious projects, and what are the real environmental and economic stakes? Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) explores the pros and cons of carbon capture in the new Louisiana Spotlight: Carbon Crossroads, premiering Monday, April 21 at 8:00 PM on LPB’s statewide network and WLAE-TV. Streaming will also be available on the night of the broadcast premiere at LPB.org and LPB’s YouTube channel.
Louisiana Spotlight examines the controversial carbon capture initiatives spreading across the state, exploring the complex interplay between industrial interests, environmental justice, and climate policy. From successful implementations abroad to cautionary tales closer to home, the program investigates the science, economics, and community impacts shaping Louisiana's carbon future.
Hosted by LPB’s Karen LeBlanc, co-anchor of Louisiana: The State We’re In, we talk one-on-one with Dr. Greg Upton, Executive Director at LSU Center for Energy Studies.
