Why Summer Days Have More Daylight | Interactive Lesson (3-5,6-8) Students use and develop models of the Earth–Sun systems to demonstrate understanding of how the Sun illuminates the hemispheres differently during summer and winter. Visual supports (video, images), data graphs, and informational text provide students with multiple entry points to investigating the phenomenon of the changing duration of daylight. This interactive provides the context and sources of data students can use to gather evidence that supports an explanation of why summer days have more daylight than winter days.

The Ups and Downs of Social Media: Evaluating Mental Health Effects on Teens | On Our Minds Podcast (6-8,9-12) In this lesson, students will listen to an episode of On Our Minds, a youth-led podcast exploring issues pertaining to mental health among teenagers. This episode focuses on the positives and negatives of social media on youths’ mental health. Students will be listening to first hand anecdotes from teens who have faced challenges because of social media and some who’ve overcome them.

The makers of the science series CHIP KIDS are looking for classes to be featured in Season 2 of this exciting and fun series!

CHIP KIDS is a fun YouTube series designed to spark interest in STEAM concepts, particularly semiconductors!

Each episode is made in collaboration with educators, engineers, and industry experts and features a fun, hands-on experiment that can be recreated using ordinary, safe materials. The series and the accompanying learning materials aim to inspire and motivate all students to see science careers as exciting opportunities they can achieve.
