America is celebrating the lead-up to our 250th anniversary and PBS is leading the charge with an upcoming epic documentary series from Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, that explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence. The series offers an expansive look at the virtues and contradictions of the war and the birth of the nation.
Blue: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue

The special tells the remarkable story of Louisiana artist George Rodrigue. A man of his surroundings and culture and a vigorously collected and admired figure, the "Blue Dog" painter has created a legacy that endures. Rodrigue's life story and artistic contributions are a vivid part of the Louisiana landscape, continuing to play an important part in the American art world and beyond.

It’s been twenty years since Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast – forever changing the lives and the landscape of Louisiana, particularly the city of New Orleans. In this one-hour special, LPB looks back at the lasting and continuing impact of the storm. We’ll explore how Katrina altered the look of our state, both geographically and demographically, with thousands fleeing – many never returning to the place they once called home.
