Louisiana's Hidden History: Spanish Louisiana in the American Revolution

In support of America’s 250 celebration, LPB Education developed six standards-aligned resources to help grade 3-8 students understand the important role of Spanish Louisiana in winning the American Revolution. Diverse troops led by Governor Bernardo de Gálvez fought several battles against the British during the war.

LDMA Spotlight on History

During December, the LDMA is heading out on a virtual Louisiana Christmas journey.  Louisiana is home to a variety of unique Christmas celebrations. You can also learn more about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa celebrations from LPB’s Folks series!

Gingerbread Joy Play & Learn

In this festive Play & Learn, we kick things off with a fun video clip from Pinkalicious & Peterrific as they create a magical gingerbread house. Then it’s your turn! Families build their own gingerbread village using recycled boxes—proof that creativity and holiday magic can come from anything.

LPB 50

Created by the Louisiana Legislature, LPB began broadcasting on September 6, 1975, with a clear mission: to educate, inform, and connect the citizens of Louisiana. LPB has remained a commercial-free network, dedicated to sharing stories that appeal to both children and adults.

Philanthropy for LPB Continues with Support for Family’s Favorite Shows

The Lawrence Welk Show on LPB has been supported by Shreveport-based Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company and Rose-Neath Funeral Homes for 43 years. According to Margaret Shehee, president of Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home and vice president and Secretary/Treasurer of Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company, her parents loved The Lawrence Welk Show.

"I honestly think my mom would come and get me if I let our Lawrence Welk sponsorship lapse," she said. "I remember the absolute joy my parents got from tuning in each Saturday and I want to always honor that."
