“Alive! In America’s Delta” from May 7, 2014, focuses on Louisiana’s alligator sustainability program, one of the most successful wildlife conservation projects in the world. It covers: the history of alligators in Louisiana; the importance of alligators in Cajun culture; the groundbreaking research into the life cycle of alligators at the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge; alligator farming and ranching; the efforts of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to protect the alligator population; alligator attacks; nuisance alligators; alligator hunting; and the use of alligator hides in consumer products.
