The Colfax Massacre and the End of Reconstruction

This film tells the tale of a crucial event in American history through the voices of the White and Black descendants of the battle and those of leading historians. Combining contemporary footage, archival photographs and tasteful animation, the film will tell the story of the massacre and the ensuing legal battle. The film traces the legacy and impact of the U.S. vs. Cruikshank decision on American society and generations of Black men and women to the present day.
