DANIEL R. MARTINY is managing partner of Martiny & Associates, LLC, a Metairie law firm engaging in a general civil practice and specializing in civil rights defense of governmental agencies and their employees. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1973 and received his J.D. degree in 1976 from Loyola Law School. He served 18 years as an Assistant Parish Attorney for the Parish of Jefferson before resigning that position upon his election to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1994. From 1996 to 2000, he served as Vice Chairman of the House Environmental Committee and as the Governor=s floor leader on environmental issues. From 2000 to 2008, he served as Chairman of the House Criminal Justice Committee, being recognized by several organizations including the Louisiana State Bar Association for his work on juvenile justice reform and the reorganization of the Indigent Defender program in the State of Louisiana. In 2007, he was elected to the Louisiana State Senate and served as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary B Committee from 2008-2012. He is presently Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee and Chairman of the Louisiana Judicial Compensation Commission. He is a member of the Senate Judiciary A, the Committee of Municipal and Parochial Affairs, and the Louisiana Board of Commerce & Industry. As the longest continuous-serving Republican in the Louisiana Legislature, he holds the position of Chairman of the Senate Republican Legislature Delegation. He also serves as Parliamentarian of the Senate. He was re-elected without opposition in 2011 and 2015.

He is married to Nina Martiny. They have three sons and two grandchildren.
