Lawmakers Return to Work

When the doors of the state legislature reopened this week and lawmakers filed in, Rep. Ted James of Baton Rouge was not among those entering. Natasha Williams talks with James about why the Coronavirus survivor did not feel comfortable returning to the state capitol building.

Re-opening Closed College Campuses

State universities are planning a phased reopening of closed college campuses in the coming weeks and say they are hope to welcome students back in the fall. Andre' Moreau talks with President Tom Galligan of LSU, Jim Henderson of the UL System and Robyn Merrick, a Vice President of the Southern University System, about their plans and the challenges brought on by Covid-19.

Story of Survival

Marie Carney says for 40 days, she lived in fear that the Coronavirus might take her life. Her fears grew as her symptoms worsened. She is now feeling better and talks with Natasha Williams about the virus and what she wants everyone to know about it.

WSH20 Bands

Wynne and Ted Newsham are a Dallas couple with Louisiana roots. The Coronavirus Pandemic hatched an idea of theirs to help people in need with a simple reminder about the proper washing of hands. Andre' Moreau talks with the Newsham's about the WSH20 silicone wristband and how you can get one.

Queen Bess Island

Gabe Giffen takes us to Queen Bess Island near Grand Isle. The BP Oil Spill nearly ruined what was left of the eroded island, but the CPRA (the state Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority) used $10 million of settlement money from the 2010 environmental disaster to restore it as a nesting haven for water birds, like the Brown Pelican.
