State Budget Plans

The Louisiana House of Representatives opened budget hearings this week as Governor John Bel Edwards and House Republican leaders have both put forth their budget plans. Andre’ Moreau talks with House Appropriations Chair Cameron Henry and Committee member Pat Smith about their proposed plan.

Recovery in Monroe

Natasha Williams sits down with the mayor of Monroe to talk about improvements and strives made by the city since the March 2016 floods. We also hear about the mayor’s efforts to retain and bring more jobs to this North Louisiana city.

New Effort for Road Funds

Andre’ Moreau reports on a new push by the Louisiana Coalition to Fix Our Roads, a grassroots group that proposes an additional gasoline tax dedicated for road construction. We hear from State Representative Steve Carter about why this bill could be a success even though it borrows much of its core from his failed attempt to raise gas taxes two years ago.
