State Farm Lowers Car Insurance Rates

For a second time since last June, State Farm is lowering car insurance rates in Louisiana. Andre’ Moreau talks with Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon about the rate change and if it could trigger a ripple effect among other car insurers. Louisiana has the second highest car insurance rates in the U.S.

Spotlight on the Louisiana Hayride

Natasha Williams visits the historic Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport. Musicians, singers and fans gathered for a Grammy nomination celebration. We hear from the woman who has been lobbying for decades to bring back a Hayride style event to Shreveport’s historic Municipal Auditorium. It was there that rock n’ roll and country greats like Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash launched their careers.

Volunteers Help with Coastal Restoration

A public/private partnership is helping to restore Louisiana’s wetlands. Andre’ visits Pointe-aux-Chenes in lower Terrebonne Parish with volunteers planting bald cypress trees.

Eight students have been chosen as recipients of the 2019 Louisiana Young Heroes Awards. Now in its 24th year, the program celebrates the achievements of students from around the state who have inspired those around them, and have devoted their time, talents, and energy to making their schools, churches, or communities better places.
