Dexter Sapp

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service

Dexter Sapp, the NRCS Outreach Coordinator also has a collateral duty as a Soil Conservationist on the Water Resources Staff at the Louisiana NRCS headquarters in Alexandria, Louisiana. He is a 40-year career employee with the agency.

Dexter received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana in 1978.

He is the recipient of 17 work related awards and he is the past recipient of the Cenla Federal Employee of the Year award.

Dexter serves as Project Manager for federally funded Public Law 566 Small Watershed Projects. As the NRCS Outreach Coordinator Dexter works with grassroots and community-based organizations as well as other USDA Agencies and partners in promoting USDA programs and services to the veterans, underserved rural and urban communities throughout the State of Louisiana. From the Outreach Meetings that Dexter has been involved with since 2014, over 440 individuals have requested USDA assistance and 95% of those requests are from first time USDA participants.

He is married to Doris Towel Sapp and they have one daughter Dextria Sapp and one son Derrick Sapp
