Governor John Bel Edwards named Jack B. Montoucet Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in December of 2016. Prior to his appointment, Montoucet, a Democrat, served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 42, winning his first term in 2007.He represented voters in Acadia and Lafayette parishes. Montoucet previously owned Jacques’ Crocs & Farm Pride Processors, a company that raises and markets alligators and alligator meat. For 30 years, he was involved in growing and marketing the Alligator Farming Program under LDWF, serving as president of the Louisiana Alligator Association.

Montoucet was born in Scott, La., in 1947. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, leaving service as a Colonel. He also served as the chief of the Lafayette Fire Department. Montoucet and his wife Sandra have a daughter and two grandchildren.
