Senator Jay Luneau


Senator W. Jay Luneau, who is serving his second term in the Senate, is the Senior partner at Luneau and Beck Law Office in Alexandria. He represents individuals and small businesses in a wide variety of cases throughout the state. Senator Luneau has also been an educator in the legal field, he has served as an adjunct professor for Northwestern State University where he taught law related courses. He also taught lawyers and paralegals continuing legal education courses.

Senator Luneau is the legal counsel for Renaissance Home for Youth and is well known in the community for his work with the group. He is also active in a number of other organizations including the Rapides Children’s Advocacy Center CASA program.

He is a lifelong resident of Central Louisiana. He is also a graduate of Pineville High School, Louisiana Tech University, and Southern Law Center. He and his wife, Carman, have two children.

As Senator, he has had the honor and opportunity to serve his community and represent District 29. Senator Luneau district consist of 7 Parishes: Bienville, Grant, Jackson, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Rapides and Winn.

He serves on 8 committees: Judiciary A: Vice Chair, Health and Welfare, Natural Resources, Revenue and Fiscal Affairs, Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, Legislative Audit Advisory Council, Select Committee on Homeland Security and Louisiana State Law Institute. His district office is located in Rapides Parish in Alexandria.
