Alfred "Al" Leger

Alfred “Al” Leger is Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA). The mission of the LDVA is to provide comprehensive care and quality service to Louisiana's Veterans and their families. As LDVA’s Deputy Assistant Secretary, Leger is responsible for all Counselors and Paralegals providing VA Benefits support in the State of Louisiana.

Leger worked his way up through the State VA system serving as Counselor then Counselor Supervisor up to Southwest Regional Manager responsible for all offices in Southwest Louisiana from the Sabine River to the Mississippi River south of Alexandria. Leger’s duties include ensuring that all Counselors and Paralegals properly assist veterans when applying for Federal and State veterans’ benefits statewide.

Leger retired from the Navy after 20 years of service having served in the ranks from E-1 to Aviation Structural Mechanics Chief Petty Officer E-7.

He is married (41 years) to Elizabeth Leger (formerly Elizabeth Bourque) and currently reside in Rayne, LA.

They have two children Kristopher (medically discharged from the US Navy residing in Virginia Beach, VA) and Michelle (Graduate of UL Lafayette currently teaching music at Silsbee middle school residing in Vidor, TX).
