Louisiana National Guard Behavioral Health Officer

Captain Huval, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of professional experience, is a recognized clinician, author, consultant, professional educator and Army Veteran.

Captain Angela Huval is the first Licensed Clinical Social Worker in a Behavioral Health Officer Position to serve in the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. She is the Brigade’s expert, advisor, and “lead agent” in Behavioral Health providing individual and group crisis intervention and treatment. She is a first responder to all soldier suicides in the state and specializes in Crisis Intervention and Critical Incident Stress Management.

CPT Huval has received service awards from her deployment in Iraq with support of the Global War on Terrorism.

Due to her accomplishments in her civilian work as a social worker, she was selected as the NASW-LA Social Worker of the Year (2005), Lafayette, Louisiana City-Parish President’s Distinguished Citizen, Woman of Excellence Career Achievement, and various community service awards.
