Paul Frey received an undergraduate degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management from Louisiana State University in 1974. He was employed by the Louisiana Forestry Commission, Louisiana Office of Forestry and Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry for over 33 years until retirement on December 28, 2007. His last 18 years of service was as Louisiana State Forester. He was elected President of the National Association of State Foresters in 1997.

Frey was appointed Executive Director of the Louisiana Landowners Association (LLA) on January 1, 2008. He has been appointed by the Governor of LA to the state’s Water Resources Commission & Oilfield Site Restoration Commission and is a registered lobbyist in the state of Louisiana. He represented LLA on both the 2012 and 2017 Coastal Master Plan Framework Development Team.

Frey is an avid sportsman and is a long time member of CCA, Delta Waterfowl and Ducks Unlimited as well as the Louisiana Landowners Association and the Louisiana Forestry Association.

He has received numerous state and federal awards including the Outstanding Alumnus Award from LSU Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Alumni Association, the Distinguished Service Award from the Louisiana Society of American Foresters, the Current Achievement Award for Leadership in Legislation from the National Association of State Foresters and was elected to the LSU Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Hall of Fame in 2011.
