Mark Berger

Louisiana Nursing Home Association

Mark Berger is the executive director of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association (LNHA), which represents more than 250 nursing facilities and assisted living facilities across the state. He has more than 27 years of experience working with LNHA, serving as executive director and reimbursement director.

A cum laude graduate of Southeastern University, Berger has been a CPA for 33 years. Before working at LNHA, he began his career in public accounting with Baxley and Associates, CPAs in 1982.

Beyond his accounting skills, Berger is actively involved with the legislative and regulatory processes. He has played an integral role in several major successes of LNHA, most notably the design and implementation of the case-mix reimbursement system and legislative measures to advance quality care for residents of nursing facilities.

Berger serves as chairman of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants Medical & Healthcare Issues Committee and as a board member of the Louisiana chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Baton Rouge. He also serves as the administrator for the LNHA Liability Trust that provides professional and general liability coverage for LNHA members.

Berger’s vision for long-term care in Louisiana is for all nursing facilities to offer quality person-centered care in a loving, home-like environment and for Louisianans to learn about the extraordinary things that occur in nursing facilities on a daily basis. His passion is two-fold — working to create policies that support his vision and equipping providers with the best resources to better serve their residents, the frail and elderly of Louisiana.

Married for 35 years, Mark and Kayla Berger are the parents of two children, Kristi and Kelli, and have four grandchildren. He is also active in various community organizations.
