Attakapas: The Cajun Story
A dynamic, immersive, multi-media stage show from Louisiana singer-songwriter, poet, cultural activist, and environmentalist Zachary Richard is now a tour-de-force television special from Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
The production features 12 of Zachary Richard’s original songs, recorded LIVE at Baton Rouge’s Manship Theatre in February 2017. The story chronicles the plight of the Acadian people during their expulsion by the British from Nova Scotia, their epic journey and eventual arrival in the primordial Louisiana swamps and prairies, through song and storytelling.
This powerful program weaves Zachary Richard’s musical stage performance with archival photography, film and moving imagery to transport the viewer into the heart of the journey. This program traces the lineage of one of America’s most unique and influential immigrant populations in a story life that will live in the heart of the viewer for years to come.
