LPB’S EMMA REID WINS CONSERVATION AWARD FOR IN THE BLIND The Louisiana Wildlife Federation Names Reid Conservation Communicator of the Year

The Louisiana Wildlife Federation has named Louisiana Public Broadcasting digital media producer Emma Reid their Conservation Communicator of the Year 2019. Reid received the award in recognition of her 2019 LPB documentary, In The Blind, which explores not only the cultural traditions of Louisiana waterfowl enthusiasts, but also their roles as wildlife conservationists, land managers, and environmental journalists.

The Conservation Communicator of the Year Award is part of the Louisiana Wildlife Federation’s Annual State Conservation Achievement Recognition Program. As ‘Communicator of the Year,’ Reid was recognized for her outstanding work in creating public awareness of the importance of environmental quality and natural resource conservation.

Exploring more than just the life and laughter around camp, Reid’s documentary, In The Blind, addresses the issues Louisiana is facing with coastal land loss, agriculture changes, and other concerns that are impacting waterfowl populations on the critical wintering grounds of Louisiana, creating public awareness of the importance of natural resource conservation.

Christina Melton, LPB Deputy Director, served as executive producer on In The Blind. “We could not be more proud of Emma and the work she does highlighting the people, places, and traditions of Louisiana so we can share them with the rest of the world. As a digital media producer, Emma is part of a team that is helping LPB explore the digital landscape by developing digital first content for the citizens of Louisiana.”

In The Blind was also honored by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters, winning the “Uniquely Louisiana” award at their Prestige Awards luncheon in March. In The Blind is available for on demand viewing with LPB Passport.
