LOUISIANA PUBLIC BROADCASTING RENEWS COMMITMENT TO FRENCH LANGUAGE PROGRAMMING

Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) renews its efforts to preserve Louisiana’s French language heritage with the announcement to extend their distribution agreement with Groupe Média TFO, the leader in French educational content in North America. LPB will provide an additional two years of award-winning TFO educational content to French-speakers and future French-speakers throughout Louisiana on its 24-hour children’s channel, LPB PBS Kids.

“Since they debuted on the LPB network, TFO’s educational shows have enriched French culture for our young residents,” said Beth Courtney, President and CEO of Louisiana Public Broadcasting. “We are very proud to offer unique and fun learning experiences for Francophone and Francophiles in Louisiana. We congratulate Groupe Média TFO as it inspires children every day with its great creativity.”

LPB provides 14 hours of French-language children’s programming weekly, content designed for children ages 2-8. In addition to TFO content, this block also includes French-language versions of some PBS favorites like Peg + Chat (Peg + Cat) and Le Village de Dany (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood).

“Proudly educational and proudly Francophone, TFO is happy to contribute to the growth of minority French-speaking communities in Canada and all across the world. By renewing this broadcasting partnership with LPB, we ensure that the Francophone heritage of Louisiana is celebrated and that it resonates for new and future generations,” said Éric Minoli, Chief Operating Officer, Groupe Média TFO.

Broadcast for the first time on LPB PBS Kids on April 18, 2016, TFO Creations convey essential skills, values and abilities to help their young audiences grow up and become enlightened world citizens. The programs also reinforce LPB’s common mission with CODOFIL (Council for the Development of French in Louisiana) to provide fun educational experiences for French immersion students and a powerful instruction tool for French teachers.
