Louisiana Public Broadcasting has named Christina Melton as Deputy Director.

Friday, August 10, 2018; Baton Rouge, LA — Louisiana Public Broadcasting has named Christina Melton as Deputy Director. Melton has been LPB’s Director of Special Projects and has 25 years of experience in documentary film production, news and corporate communications in public broadcasting, commercial television, and business. “Christina has already invested nearly two decades in LPB’s ongoing success,” said Beth Courtney, LPB’s President and CEO. “As we continue to find new ways of delivering the kind of high quality, educational content our audiences expect from LPB, we look forward to benefiting from Christina’s leadership, energy and fresh ideas.”

Melton has worked with LPB for 17 years and has produced some of the network’s most celebrated and award-winning documentary programs, including "Deeply Rooted," "Atchafalaya Houseboat," "Washing Away," "Turning the Tide" and "Signpost to Freedom." Her work has been recognized with some of the top awards in broadcasting, including the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Award for Excellence in Journalism, CINE Golden Eagle, regional Emmy, Edward R. Murrow and Associated Press awards. She has been honored as Louisiana Conservationist of the Year, producer of the Louisiana Humanities Documentary of the Year, and received an Honorable Mention from the American Bar Association Silver Gavel Awards. Melton spearheaded the development of the Louisiana Digital Media Archive, an online digital media library in collaboration with the Louisiana State Archives, and LPB’s participation in the American Archive project. She most recently is overseeing a new project with the National World War II Museum for a documentary on the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

In her new role, Melton will oversee development of new content creation across existing and emerging platforms, expand collaborations with talented Louisiana content producers, enhance LPB’s commitment to early childhood educational development, and deepen community support and engagement with our loyal viewers and new audiences.
