The Friends of LPB honored distinguished supporters and champions of Louisiana Public Broadcasting on Tuesday, October 5 during its virtual 2021 Annual Meeting.

The Friends of LPB honored distinguished supporters and champions of Louisiana Public Broadcasting on Tuesday, October 5 during its virtual 2021 Annual Meeting. Guests were welcomed by Friends of LPB Chairman, Bo Harris, who recognized and thanked members of the Louisiana Legends and Visionary Societies, the Boards of Directors of Friends of LPB, Louisiana Educational Television Authority and the Foundation for Excellence in Louisiana Public Broadcasting. Harris also noted the work accomplished over the past year by LPB, and thanked the Friends of LPB members throughout Louisiana and beyond for their generous financial support of the educational and entertaining programming on Louisiana Public Broadcasting.

The virtual gathering celebrated the 2021 Honorees of LPB President’s Awards presented by LPB’s Deputy Director, C.C Copeland. This year’s recipients are: Barry Erwin, President and CEO of CABL, Council for A Better Louisiana, and a constant resource to LPB, providing insightful analysis of legislation and public policy, serving as host for LPB’s political debates and commentator at gubernatorial inaugurations and opening sessions; and Clay Fourrier, who has served LPB for 45 years in many capacities including Production Assistant, Director, Executive Producer and now as Executive Project Consultant, all towards the betterment of LPB.

Outgoing board members Ayes Bradford, Jim McCrery, Peggy Murphy, Jodi Rives, and Ann Wilkinson were recognized for their exemplary service to LPB over the course of their terms by Friends of LPB Executive Director, Terri Crockett, who also presented the Chairman’s Award to outgoing Friends of LPB Board Chair Bo Harris, a generous supporter and ambassador for LPB. During Harris’ tenure, the Friends of LPB reached its goal of having at least 20,000 members, and enhanced its major gifts program.

Incoming Board Chair, Cathy Seymour, introduced incoming Board Members: Rannah Gray of Baton Rouge, public relations consultant; Sand Marmillion from New Orleans and Vacherie, lifelong preservationist; Katy Merriman of Shreveport, owner of Merrimum Consulting; and Greg Oquin of Alexandria, investment advisor.
