DIY WITH A FRENCH TWIST...AND A PRETTY GRAND SCALE!

ESCAPE TO THE CHATEAU DIY
NEW SERIES
Monday 9:00PM

If you are a fan of the original series, you'll love this new take on living the good life in a French chateau! LPB provided a "First Look" at this series a few weeks ago, now the series begins in full!

Dick and Angel Strawbridge are a handy couple (to say the least!) who fulfilled their dream of buying a rundown chateau in the French countryside, renovating it, and turning it into an events destination! This was a task not undertaken by the faint of heart! As we watched along, it was hard not to wonder what it would be like to embark on your own chateau odyssey.

Wonder no more! ESCAPE TO THE CHATEAU DIY finds Dick and Angel helping other British families who want to purchase and renovate their own historic homes in the French countryside! From the do's and don'ts of chateau shopping, to struggles with plumbing and attic conversions, you'll enjoy watching and wondering "what if," especially when doing it far away from the problems and potential disasters in France!

NEW LPB DIGITAL SERIES EXPLORES LOUISIANA’S GREEN BOOK HISTORY

SAFE HAVEN: LOUISIANA'S GREEN BOOK
LPB Digital Series
Premieres Friday, Oct. 8
www.lpb.org/greenbook & LPB YouTube channel

The Dew Drop Inn in New Orleans. Jake's Cafe and Tourist Home in Bastrop. Horatio’s Esso Service Station #2 in Scotlandville. All of these locations and many more across Louisiana hold special historical significance. They are all locations you would find in The Green Book – a historic guide that alerted Black American travelers to hotels, restaurants and service stations that welcomed their business during troubling times in mid-century America.

A new digital-first series from LPB explores the Louisiana businesses and places found in The Green Book. The LPB mini-series Safe Haven: Louisiana’s Green Book premieres Friday, October 8, with the first episode on LPB’s YouTube Channel and at www.lpb.org/greenbook.   Watch for new episodes each Friday through November 12.

Films that explore the tumultuous events of 2020 told by filmmakers with unique perspectives. The Hindsight Project is a fascinating new initiative that LPB is proud to be participating in. The goal was to help support BIPOC filmmakers from the American South and Puerto Rico as they worked to create short films looking at how their communities navigated the unprecedented events of 2020. Two Louisiana-based filmmakers were chosen to be a part of the project, and LPB helped provide support, guidance...and now awareness!

Go to www.lpb.org/hindsight to watch the Louisiana-based film shorts from Zac Manuel and Kiyoko McCrae, as well as the other four films that explore such diverse topics as an interfaith choir, immigration and isolation in Arkansas, and food insecurity in Puerto Rico.

Much thanks to our partners,  Firelight MediaReel South, the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), and public media stations across the South! Stay tuned for your chance to meet the filmmakers in an LPB Virtual Event.
