IT'S NO MYSTERY! AGATHA CHRISTIE FANS LOVE LPB

Christie fans rejoice. LPB has two movies that take the real life beloved mystery novelist and insert her into fictionalized adventures that would rival the books she wrote!

Agatha and the Curse of IshtarSunday 7pm

This movie finds Christie bruised from her recent divorce and traveling to the deserts of Iraq to an archaeological dig in search of inspiration for a new career. Instead, she stumbles across a series of mysterious murders...and finds herself pursued by a handsome and younger archaeologist.

Agatha and the Midnight Murders | Sunday 9pm

As bombs fall on London in 1940 during the Blitz, Christie considers selling a manuscript that will kill off her most famous creation: Hercule Poirot! To raise much needed money, the author decides to sell the novel to a private buyer...a superfan who wants to own a piece of history! But as the bodies start piling up, Christie soon learns that the only thing more valuable than owning the last Poirot novel is owning the last ever book written by Agatha Christie!

The recently passed B.J. Thomas is one of the many headliners in this trip down three decades of memory lane. Thomas sings his hits "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and "Hooked on a Feeling" along with other stars like Bill Anderson, Crystal Gayle, and Glen Campbell. Country music legend Roy Clark host.

Louisiana Public Broadcasting, in partnership with the Southern University Law Center, presents a virtual screening of three Independent Lens film shorts on Monday, June 28 from 6-7:15PM. The films explore criminal justice reform efforts in the American South, as part of LPB’s Stories of Justice screening events.

One of the films, The Parish Prison is set in Louisiana. It examines the bi-partisan reform efforts to offer training and opportunities to the incarcerated. Two of our panelist, Jamila Johnson, with The Promise of Justice Initiative & the Managing Attorney for the Jim Crow Juries Project; and Captain Byron Williams, Jr., Director, Southeastern Regional Reentry Program, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, are both featured in the film and will offer insights about criminal justice reform in Louisiana.

LPB's Louisiana Young Heroes program recognizes the achievements of students who inspire those around them. Each of the six high school students honored this year are being featured on Louisiana: The State We're In, airing Fridays at 7pm on LPB.
