Amazing Life Stories, Antiques at Churchill Downs and more

Tonight at 7PM, it’s off to the races for amazing appraisals at Churchill Downs Racetrack on Antiques Roadshow. At 8PM on Fake or Fortune?, investigate remarkable stories beneath the surface of paintings. Then at 9PM, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond is an action-packed drama that tells the real story of Ian Fleming, the man who created James Bond. At 10PM, find out why the investigative team's feathers are ruffled on New Tricks.

Tuesday at 7PM on Finding Your Roots, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. shows journalists Christiane Amanpour, Ann Curry and Lisa Ling the stories within their own family trees. At 8PM, on Amelia Earhart: American Experience, learn about the life of the "First Lady of the Air." At 9PM on FRONTLINE, hear the inside story of President Trump's gamble to confront China over trade. At 10PM on Independent Lens, two Native Hawaiians discover their indigenous traditions from a fellow inmate serving a life sentence.

"Think Wednesday" & Mystery Thursday on LPB

(The California wildfires of 2018 took a worrisome trend to a new extreme, claiming scores of lives and over a million acres. Follow scientists as they seek to determine why, Wednesday at 8PM.)

Wednesday at 7PM, on Nature: Moose: Life of a Twig Eater, travel to Canada's Rockies and into the world of moose to experience a calf's first year of life. At 8PM watch NOVA: Inside the Magafire, as scientists investigate how forestry practices, climate change, and drought may contribute to the rise of deadly fires. Then at 9PM on Breakthrough: The Ideas That Changed The World, go for a ride through the 9,000-year history of the car. At 10PM on Reel South: Santuario, a Guatemalan grandmother is threatened with deportation and takes sanctuary in a North Carolina church.

Thursday at 7PM, after Sergeant Goodfellow is shot, Mallory reluctantly asks for the help of Father Brown. At 8PM on Doc Martin, Martin stops practicing the week before his hearing, but patients continue to solicit his advice. At 9PM on Death in Paradise, Jack and his team face the toughest challenge of their lives when tragedy strikes close to home. At 10PM see a special encore of part 4 of Les Misérables.

Friday at 7PM, watch the week's top news on Louisiana: The State We're In. At 8PM on Samantha Brown's Places To Love, Sam gets to float like an astronaut in Huntsville, Alabama. At 8:30PM, LPB's Art Rocks!, spotlights artists, performance, culture, literature, history and the impact of art in our world. At 9PM, enjoy a soulful evening of song as Live from Lincoln Center presents Cynthia Erivo, one of Broadway's brightest stars. That's followed at 10PM by Queen Victoria and Her Nine Children.

Saturday starting at 7PM, see your favorite British comedies. At 9PM on The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, the women delve into the mysterious death of Iris' suburban friend. At 10PM on 800 Words, George gets an unlikely message from beyond the grave. Then, don't miss John Prine on Austin City Limits at 11PM.

Sunday at 7PM on Call The Midwife, learn why Mother Mildred decides it's time for Sister Frances to attend her first solo birth. At 8PM on Les Misérables, as revolution sweeps Paris, Valjean and Cosette hide out, and Javert obsessively tracks them. (Watch all six episodes now on LPB Passport!) On Unforgotten at 9PM, the team race to find evidence to prove the identity of Hayley's killer.

LPB's En Français archive now available to view!

You can now view 223 episodes of LPB’s En Français series on the Louisiana Digital Media Archive at lpb.org/frencharchive. The series, which aired from 1980-1993, was produced in collaboration with the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL) and is the only original LPB series broadcast entirely in French. It features interviews and performances by the stars of Cajun music, performances of original plays by Le Théâtre ‘Cadien, stories on Acadian history and culture, and much more!

The event honors the best and brightest of Louisiana’s sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves in a variety of disciplines and have brought honor to the state.

Friends of LPB is proud to announce that the 2019 Louisiana Legends are: Todd Graves, American entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers; Denise Lewis Patrick, writer and editor of children’s books; Roy O.
