Spring Arrives, Soaring Cathedrals & more

(On Part 1 of Nature: American Spring LIVE, celebrate the time of birth and rebirth for plants and animals across the country.)

Tonight at 7PM on the premiere of Nature: American Spring LIVE, join us for night one of a three-night adventure about the season that sets the natural world in motion. At 8PM on Korea: The Never-ending War, learn about the important turning point in world history that still reverberates today. Then at 10PM on New Tricks, the team investigates the death of a diplomat.

Tuesday at 7PM on Part 2 of Nature: American Spring LIVE, witness mass migrations of animals as they move to spring nesting grounds. At 8PM, on Rockies: Kingdoms of the Sky, experience the wildlife and people who inhabit this 3,000-mile mountain range. At 9PM, FRONTLINE: The Last Survivors shares the stories of those that survived the Holocaust. At 10PM on Secrets of the Dead: Jamestown's Dark Winter, learn what the bones of a young girl reveal about what happened in 1609.

"Think Wednesday" & Mystery Thursday on LPB

(Wednesday at 8PM: Carved from 100 million pounds of stone, soaring effortlessly atop a spiderweb of masonry, Gothic cathedrals are marvels of human achievement and artistry. How did medieval builders reach such spectacular heights?)

Wednesday at 7PM, on Part 3 of Nature: American Spring LIVE, learn how plants and animals depend on each other to survive. At 8PM watch NOVA: Building the Great Cathedrals. With the news of the devastating fire at Notre Dame, examine how the world's great cathedrals were built. At 9PM on Breakthrough: The Ideas That Changed The World, learn how robots were first conceptualized in ancient Rome and see how their use has evolved. At 10PM on Reel South: Gimme A Faith, a filmmaking student is surprised to find a North Carolina community of Chinese students connected by evangelical Christianity.

Thursday at 7PM on Father Brown, the unexplained death of an unidentified man in St Mary's graveyard calls for investigation. At 8PM on Doc Martin, Martin's blood phobia causes a disaster with a patient. At 9PM on Death in Paradise, a shadow is cast over a small fishing community when their festival queen is murdered. At 10PM see a special encore of part 3 of Les Misérables.

Friday at 7PM, watch the week's top news on Louisiana: The State We're In. At 8PM on Louisiana Young Heroes, LPB and the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge honor eight students for academic achievements, community service, and overcoming adversity. At 8:30PM on Art Rocks!, meet M. Douglas Walton of Ruston, who survived a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal. His experience reveals itself through his paintings. At 9PM, watch Emilio and Gloria Estefan: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.

Saturday starting at 7PM, see your favorite British comedies. At 9PM on The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, it's clear the city is in the grip of a killer with a dark agenda now menacing Iris' own neighborhood. At 10PM on 800 Words, Shay goes to the dark side after suffering from a broken heart. Then, don't miss Sam Smith and Anderson East on Austin City Limits at 11PM.

Sunday at 7PM on Call The Midwife, Lucille cares for an unmarried teen mother and Valerie helps her grandmother with an embarrassing medical problem. At 8PM on Les Misérables, Cosette moves to Paris under Valjean's protection. (Watch all six episodes now on LPB Passport!) On Unforgotten at 9PM, Cassie and Sunny finally get closer to some truth about the night Hayley disappeared.

LPB's En Français archive now available to view!

You can now view 223 episodes of LPB’s En Français series on the Louisiana Digital Media Archive at lpb.org/frencharchive. The series, which aired from 1980-1993, was produced in collaboration with the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL) and is the only original LPB series broadcast entirely in French. It features interviews and performances by the stars of Cajun music, performances of original plays by Le Théâtre ‘Cadien, stories on Acadian history and culture, and much more!

The event honors the best and brightest of Louisiana’s sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves in a variety of disciplines and have brought honor to the state.

Friends of LPB is proud to announce that the 2019 Louisiana Legends are: Todd Graves, American entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers; Denise Lewis Patrick, writer and editor of children’s books; Roy O.
