Father Brown (Season 7), April 4 -- The charming Father Brown returns to solve more mysteries in the sleepy Cotswold village of Kembleford. This is England in the 1950s – a countryside dotted with small villages, rural parish churches and large country houses. Each episode sees Father Brown investigate a crime in his own particular way, using intuition and psychology. This season Father Brown finds himself trapped with a murderer during a dark, stormy night. A civilized fundraiser at a finishing school puts Mrs. McCarthy in the path of a rogue bullet. And a daring train robbery sees Lady Felicia and Mrs. McCarthy carried off in the dead of night. Can Father Brown find them before it’s too late?

Death in Paradise (Season 8), April 4 -- The smash-hit whodunit returns. Detective Jack Mooney is starting to get to know the people and places of Saint Marie. But there’s little time for sightseeing, as there are some fiendishly clever murders to solve. From a local radio DJ murdered while live on air to a zookeeper killed by a poisonous dart, Jack and his team have their work cut out. Energetic officer Ruby Patterson – the commissioner’s niece – is a new face on the team. Jack must lead them through personal ups and downs while using his unconventional methods to catch the killers; these are some of their most challenging cases yet.

Les Miserables on Masterpiece, April 14 -- Dominic West (The Affair, The Wire) stars as Jean Valjean, and David Oyelowo (Selma, A United Kingdom) as Javert in this epic retelling of Victor Hugo's classic novel, "Les Miserables." They are joined by a host of Britain's most-talented actors, including Lily Collins (Rules Don't Apply) as Fantine, Olivia Colman (The Crown, Broadchurch) as Madam Thenardier, and Josh O'Connor (The Crown, The Durrells in Corfu) as Marius. This adaptation was scripted by Andrew Davies (Pride & Prejudice, War & Peace).

Austin City Limits: Kacey Musgraves/Lucas Nelson, April 20 --  Live it up with some contemporary country. Texan Kacey Musgraves essays tunes from her acclaimed album "Golden Hour." Son of outlaw country legend Willie Nelson, roots rocker Lukas Nelson and his band present songs from their self-title release.

I hope you and your families enjoy some of these resources. Happy spring!

Take care, Nancy Tooraen, ntooraen@lpb.org
