According to Bert and Alice, the two surly servants who work for the formidable Miss Farnaby, thenotice should read: "Wanted -- masochist to be at beck and call of cantankerous old trout."
Fortunately, Mulberry has never met Bert or Alice. In fact, no one knows where he comes from. Out of the blue, he just turns up one day at the family mansion, without a single qualification to his name, and sweet-talks his way into the job.
Suddenly, the dull old house is not dull any more, and Miss Farnaby's life will never be the same again...

Episode One
Miss Farnaby leads a dull life in the old family home, alone except for two surly servants, Bert and Alice. Then Mulberry comes on the scene -- from where nobody knows -- and Miss Farnaby's life will never be the same again.
Episode Two
It's bonfire night, and we find Mulberry trying to coax Miss Farnaby into changing some of her habits.
Episode Three
Mulberry enters Miss Farnaby into the village quiz. But the competition takes on new meaning when her outspoken sister, Adele, decides to challenge her.
Episode Four
Miss Farnaby invites Mulberry to accompany her on a trip to Paris. A problem arises on their way to the airport, and the trip seems doomed.
Episode Five
It would appear that Miss Farnaby's dinner party is destined to be a success. But an unforeseen event could ruin the event.
Episode Six
Mulberry does a thorough safety check of the manor and warns Bert and Alice it is a death trap. Is the only way he can keep Miss Farnaby safe from harm be to disappear as suddenly as he arrived?
Episode Seven
When Mulberry's father returns to give him his marching orders, Mulberry is reluctant to leave Miss Farnaby friendless. He begs to stay another 24 hours.
Episode Eight
Miss Farnaby asks Mulberry to help keep a promise she made to her late cousin Arthur. She told Arthur that she would fly a kite in his honour when he died.
Episode Nine
Miss Farnaby's niece Jocelyn arrives for a visit, and she asks Mulberry to take Jocelyn out to dinner. He agrees and find they are mutually attracted.
Episode Ten
Without advising her of his action, Mulberry enters one of Miss Farnaby's watercolors in the local art exhibition. When she finds out, she is quite cross.
Episode Eleven
Miss Farnaby has invited a secret guest to dinner, one with death in mind. Mulberry is eager to know the stranger's identity, but Miss Farnaby will not give away the secret.
Episode Twelve
Miss Farnaby's plan for a musical soiree at the manor look in danger of falling flat until Bert reveals a hidden talent which saves the day.
Episode Thirteen
Miss Farnaby dreads the prospect of a visit from her sisters, Adele and Elizabeth. When they arrive, her worst fears are realized. They want her to sell the manor.
