When LPB signed on the air in 1975, it was headquartered on the ground floor of the Department of Education building in downtown Baton Rouge. These quarters quickly became very cramped as the staff grew from twelve people to nearly eighty. In 1978, the administrative staff was moved to a building five miles away, and warehouse space was maintained in yet another building. In 1985 LPB acquired a warehouse on Anselmo Lane in Baton Rouge. This warehouse wasn't a stranger to show business, though - in 1982, it was used as a soundstage for the filming of the Richard Pryor movie "The Toy." After extensive renovations, the LPB Telecommunications Center was dedicated in 1986. This 48,000 square-foot building houses offices for the Louisiana Educational Television Authority, the state-of-the-art LPB Broadcast Operations Center, a teleconference and distance learning center, and two fully-equipped production studios.
