
For the past year, some of the best regional planners in the world have come to the Bayou State to gather hard data and talk with local residents and leaders about how these issues can best be addressed. See the fascinating results of this research and find out the benefits - and consequences - of pursuing alternative futures. You'll get to vote on specific options that will affect every citizen's future. Louisiana Speaks: Our Voice, Our Plan, Our Future wants to know what you think the future of South Louisiana should be. LPB aired a special documentary on the major issues facing the state and possible changes that could help make our future brighter. The documentary aired January of 2007. It is available online, as well. There is a list of proposals in four areas and viewers had a chance to give their opinion about what is the best alternative.
Online polling will run from January 22 through February 10 on the Louisiana Speaks website (www.louisianaspeaks.org).and there will also be an 800 number for you to take the poll. You can also access the site through the LPB website (www.lpb.org). Ads containing ballots will also be placed in newspapers around the state and it will be in the LPB e-newsletter in January. NOTE: The January Public Square will air one week later than usual, on Wednesday, January 24 at 7 pm. The program airs on Wednesday, January 24 at 7 pm, on Friday, January 26, ans on Sunday repeat January 28th at 4 pm.
