About the 5 Star Gridiron Gourmet Classic

Pro Football Hall of Famer Jimmy Taylor and six-time Pro Bowl Center Jeff Van Note of the Atlanta Falcons are just two of the football legends scheduled to appear during the live three-hour Five-Star Gridiron Gourmet Classic on Saturday, August 7 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. (3:00-6:00 Eastern).

Just in time for football season, Alabama Public Television (APT), the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN), Georgia Public Television (GPTV), Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB), and Mississippi Educational Television are joining forces for this live marathon of tailgating recipes. This is the second live cooking marathon produced by the Five-Star Network. The first was the very successful and popular “A Taste of the South.

Chef John Folse of “A Taste of Louisiana with Chef John Folse & Co.” will host the Louisiana segment of the show, Don Bingham will cook for Arkansas, Stanley Graham will be the chef for Mississippi, Leslie Bailey will host the Alabama segment and Charles Renaud will cook for GPTV.

Other football stars scheduled to appear include former LSU stars Lyman White and Greg LaFleur, former Washington Redskin player Bob Brunet, former Arkansas player Isaac Davis and current Razorback coach Houston Nutt, former Ole Miss player Arthur “Skip” Jernigan, and some very special surprise guests.

A special Gridiron Gourmet Classic Cookbook with recipes from all five states and the celebrity chefs will be the thank-you gift for viewers who call in a contribution of $50 or more during the show. To find out how you can get this great new cookbook, click on your state.

We know football and eating are two of the south’s favorite sports. Here’s your chance to get a great cookbook, see some true football legends and support public television in your state all at the same time just by calling in your pledge during this exciting event.

That’s Saturday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. (3:00 in Georgia and Alabama). Check your local listings for encore performances of the Gridiron Gourmet Classic.
