There are more than 7.5 million people with intellectual disabilities in the United States and 250 million worldwide. Almost all these individuals can lead happy and successful lives, but they depend on others to help them gain the confidence and skills they need. Best Buddies International is a non-profit organization started by Anthony Kennedy Shriver to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in integrating into society. This video follows some Best Buddies participants and explores the components of Best Buddies’ various facets of service.
